Hi, I'm Raya!Pronounced "ray-uh"
I am an evolutionary and computational biologist working at the intersection of conservation genomics and method development. I'm a PhD candidate in the joint SDSU–UC Riverside Doctoral Program, co-advised by Drs. Arun Sethuraman and Ellie Armstrong.
My research focuses on improving the genomic tools we use to assess population health, particularly for small, isolated, and highly inbred species. My central question is how reliably genomic metrics reflect real fitness and viability in these systems, and how we can better improve our methods to guide conservation. I earned my BS in Bioinformatics with a Computer Science minor from Brigham Young University. |
